Crime Prevention Advice:

As part of our Operation Magpie – Spring/Summer Burglary Campaign we are asking you to consider the following points relating to possible stolen items.

🚨Think! Is Today’s Bargain Yesterday’s Burglary
🚨 Is the price too good to be true
🚨If it is too cheap it may be stolen
🚨Don't buy from door to door sales people

Most items purchased second hand are goods that have been originally been bought through genuine means and individuals are looking to sell on for many reasons.

🚨Be wary of people selling more than one expensive second hand item.
🚨If you buy something that is knowingly stolen it is always at the expense of someone else and you are assisting in keeping thieves in business.
🚨Handling stolen goods is an offence under Section 22 of the Theft Act (1968) which carries a maximum penalty of 14 years imprisonment.
