Teenager charged with theft of motorcycles, e-scooters and bicycle A 16-year-old boy from Burgess Hill has been charged with theft of motorcycles, e-scooters and bicycles in the town. Two motorcycles, two e-scooters and a bicycle were stolen and there was an attempt to steal another bicycle, all between 24 July and 26 October last year. The boy has been remanded to a youth detention centre to appear at Worthing Youth Court on 7 May. The arrest forms part of Operation Denim, which includes drone activity and targeted patrols involving neighbourhood and response officers and detectives to target crime in Mid Sussex. Anyone who has information relating to crime in the area is urged to contact the Mid Sussex neighbourhood policing team via 101, quoting Operation Denim. Always dial 999 in an emergency.

They appeared before Crawley Magistrates’ Court on March 26, where they were remanded in custody. The two men will next appear before Lewes Crown Court on April 23 to answer the charge.
BikesSafe workshops launched for Sussex motorcycle riders
Motorcycle riders are invited to book their place in safety workshops for advanced riding techniques in Sussex. The Sussex BikeSafe scheme offers the sessions in the county to help improve safety on our roads. The scheme is a national police-led initiative which seeks to engage with motorcyclists in a conflict free environment in an attempt to reduce those killed or seriously injured on the roads. The aim is to give riders an insight into what can be achieved by exploring advanced riding techniques, whether it’s a shiny cruiser or a tricked up sports machine. The Sussex BikeSafe scheme is for all, and sessions run from 8am to 12.30pm or from 1pm to 5.30pm from April 6. To find out more about the scheme or to book, visit the https://bikesafe.co.uk/sussex/ website.
