While Patrolling in Hastings we chatted with the community not only to discuss local issues that are important to them, but also to address the critical topic of knife crime.

Effective prevention of knife crime requires collaborative efforts across multiple agencies, including our team, colleges, and various local partners and community organisations. This comprehensive approach ensures that young people consistently receive crucial information about the dangers and repercussions of knife crime. We recognise that early interventions within schools and communities play a significant role in preventing such crimes.

For guidance and advice on discussing these challenging topics, please visit our website.

We had the pleasure of chatting with members of Hastings Runners in Alexandra Park last week.

Ensuring public safety remains our top priority, and engaging in conversations with local residents is invaluable for gaining insights into their perspectives and addressing any community safety and safeguarding issues.

Reassuring to hear that the runners feel more secure in the park since the new lighting has been installed, having a positive impact on their overall sense of security and safety.

Patrols will continue, and we urge anyone who encounters any issues to contact us at the time via 101 or email us at www.sussex.police.uk. In an emergency or crime in progress, please call 999

A huge thank you to the man who assisted one of our officers in arresting a wanted male On November 24th,

A single officer responded to a call on George Street to detain a wanted male who resisted arrest, resulting in a struggle to apply handcuffs. During this challenging situation, a member of the public bravely intervened, enabling our officer to successfully complete the arrest.

Unfortunately, this courageous man left before our officer could express proper thanks.

So, Thank you to that anonymous hero.

A female was arrested and charged with stealing £186 worth luxury items from Boots priory meadow hastings on Wednesday.

The Prolific shoplifter was located in Wellington Place after local officers patrolling the town centre were contacted. She was taken to Hastings Police station where she was charged with shoplifting. She is scheduled to appear in court on 18th December.

The stolen goods were returned to Boots.

Should we be having this much fun during our visit to Ark Little Ridge Primary Academy, St Leonards? 😁

We had a great discussion with the youngsters about the fascinating aspects of our various roles and the equipment we use, which led to a guided tour of our Police support van and an opportunity to dress up in all the riot gear.

Their curiosity was impressive, with thought-provoking questions about our responsibilities and the specialised equipment we use in the line of duty. On leaving, we left behind police-themed colouring sheets and lots of smiling faces.

Three men have been arrested in connection with a tool theft series in Sussex.

Officers stopped a vehicle on November 19 in Wiltshire in connection with the investigation.

Three men in their 20s were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to steal from motor vehicles between September and November.

Detective Chief Inspector, Pauline Lane said,

“Following an increased number of reports of vehicle break-ins and tool thefts in Sussex, enhanced patrols are being conducted across the county.

“We are steadfast in our commitment to holding those found responsible accountable, and ask that if you believe your vehicle has been targeted, or if you have information to report, you contact police immediately.”

Operation Portman

In the past couple of weeks, we have seen a small number of reports relating to theft of motorcycle, whilst half of these have since been successfully reunited with their owners, we continue to encourage two-wheeled vehicle owners to review their security to protect their vehicles from potential theft.

Reduce your risk of becoming a victim by taking steps to layer your security.

🔒 Log it - Lock it - Stop it

Other things you may consider include:

• Fitting an alarm or tracker can be a deterrent to thieves

Consider fitting an alarm system with tracking, immobilisation, anti-grab or movement sensors can all help protect and trace your vehicle.

• Property marking the parts

Marking as much of your bike as possible will make it more difficult for criminals to sell parts on, and therefore less attractive to steal. It will also help police identify parts and return recovered stolen bikes.

• Fit a garage door defender or upgrade garage door locks, or use garage and shed alarms

When at home the best place to keep your motorcycle, moped or scooter is in a secure garage or shed.

Unfortunately security measures can’t guarantee your bike won’t be stolen but, by using multiple security measures, you can make it harder and less attractive for thieves.

Report online or to 101 (non-emergency), and always to 999 in an emergency / crime in action.
