Spring is definitely in the air and I have certainly noticed that from the emerging glimpses of sunny days and daffodils flowering. 

The following information contains the latest Sussex Police appeals, news and burglary & vehicle crime details for Adur and Worthing, for the period of 8 February 2024 to the 7 March 2024.

Appeal for information after Goring collision

Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a collision involving a car and a bicycle in Goring.

The incident happened at about 6.20pm on Saturday, February 3, at the Goring Crossways roundabout on the A259, at the junction with Goring Street.

 

Witness appeal following sexual assault in Worthing

Police are appealing for witnesses following a report of a sexual assault in Worthing.

The incident is believed to have taken place in an alleyway off Salvington Road between 6.45pm and 7.45pm on 28 January.

Witness appeal following collision in Shoreham

Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision in Shoreham.

At around 5.10pm on 23 February, a red Audi A3 failed to stop for police and collided with bollards at the end of St Nicolas Lane. Two men are reported to have fled the scene on foot via Steyning Road towards the A27.

 

Witness appeal following assault in Worthing

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Worthing.

Officers were called to reports of a group of around 100 to 200 people causing anti-social behaviour following a party at an address in Poulters Lane, Worthing at 8.30pm on Friday (23 February).

 

Appeal for witnesses to disturbance in Lancing

Police are appealing for witnesses to a disturbance outside an address in Lancing, where officers were called to the incident near Wenceling Cottages at 3.30pm on Thursday 28 December.

 

Crime Reports

 

Burglary – There have been eleven reports of residential burglaries

Ellis Avenue, Salvington - Garage broken into and garden tools stolen

Seldon Road, Seldon - Attempted break in at a property, where the kitchen window was smashed. The homeowner was at home during the incident and the suspect did not enter the property.

Lennox Road, Worthing - Attempted break in overnight at a property where the rear window was smashed and side gate was opened. Homeowner was at the property at the time but did not see or hear anything.

Vale Avenue, Offington - A garden shed was broken into and power tools were stolen. Shed was not locked, but homeowner had CCTV where the incident has been recorded.

Wembley Gardens, Lancing - Break in at a property, where it is suspected that the intruder has gained access to the property via an open window and a car key was stolen. The homeowner’s car seems to have been driven recklessly due to damage but was returned to the property.

Prince Charles Close, Southwick - Home owner returned to their property where they found someone in the back garden breaking into the house. Suspects fled but details of the van were taken.

Upton Road, Tarring - Attempted break in was witnessed at a neighbour’s property where someone was witnessed fleeing the property. The suspect did not enter property and the neighbour alerted police after hearing a loud bang. 

Teign Walk, Durrington - Garage was broken into where two motorcycles were stolen. Homeowner believes that suspects gained access to their garden over the garden fence and left via a gate.

Woodards View, Shoreham-by-Sea - Garage broken into and golf clubs stolen. The garage was locked, but this has been forced open to gain access.

Woodards View, Shoreham-by-Sea - Separate incident where another garage was broken into and bicycle was stolen.

Riverside, Shoreham-by-Sea - Garage broken into and an electric bicycle has been stolen. The garage is believed to have been locked, but there was no evidence of forced entry.

 

Burglary Prevention

Please make sure your outbuildings and garages are locked and secure. We are continuing to investigate these burglaries and if you see anyone acting suspiciously around a property, please report it to us on 101 or 999 if you are witnessing a burglary in progress.

Vehicle Crime – There have been twenty-eight reports of vehicle crime

Cambrian Way, Worthing - Car was stolen after being collected by a male and female stating they were collecting the vehicle that was due at a garage for repairs.

Gardner Road, Southwick - Attempted theft of a motorcycle, where damage has been caused trying to steal the vehicle.

Downview Road, Worthing - Vehicle has been keyed and damage caused from the front to the rear on the passenger side.

Littlehampton Road, Salvington - Camper van has had wheel caps and chimney pot stolen.

Durrington Lane, Worthing - Car has had windows smashed, but nothing has been stolen.

Penfold Road, Worthing - Motorcycle cover was stolen and seat has been slashed.

Avalon Way, Durrington - Motorcycle stolen from property, which was stored in a side alley adjacent to the property.

Victoria Road, Shoreham-by-Sea - Motorcycle has been stolen from the road outside of the owner's property.

Pages Lane, Worthing - Car stolen.

Victoria Road, Shoreham-by-Sea - Car was broken into overnight, but nothing was stolen.

Manor Road, Worthing - Car window smashed and a backpack was stolen.

Wallace Avenue, Worthing - Vehicle was left unlocked and car was broken into, but nothing was stolen.

Ivydore Avenue, Worthing - Car was broken into overnight, where a bag of tools where stolen.

Farncombe Road, Worthing - Moped was stolen after it was being advertised for sale.

Butts Road, Southwick - Van was broken into and three boxes of tools, including power tools were stolen.

St Michaels Road, Worthing - Car parked on owner's driveway was broken into and £5 was stolen.

Sackville Road, Worthing - Car stolen from outside a property.

Hadrian Avenue, Southwick - Car was broken into and fishing equipment has been stolen.

Stanley Road, Worthing - Vehicle was broken into and a wallet that was hidden out of sight was stolen.

Church Green, Shoreham-by-Sea - Motorcycle was stolen from the driveway of the owner’s property.

New Parade, Worthing - Registration number plate was stolen from a car.

Hurstfield, Lancing – A car windscreen was smashed and passenger door has been dented.

Castle Road, Worthing - Wing mirrors on four separate vehicles have been damaged.

King Edward Avenue, Worthing - Classic car was broken into and items stolen from the boot.

Ivydore Avenue, Worthing - Car was broken into, items have been thrown around the vehicle and clothing stolen.

Hollingbury Gardens, Worthing - Car parked outside the owner’s property had its rear windscreen smashed.

Robin Road, Worthing - Two individuals stole a parcel from the rear of a Royal Mail van, which was delivering mail.

Hollingbury Gardens, Worthing - Eight vehicles were damaged in the street overnight. Damage includes dents, scratches, windows smashed and wing mirrors missing.

Man arrested following fight at Worthing pub

Police are appealing for witnesses following a disturbance at a pub in Worthing.

At around 11pm on 23 February, officers were called to reports of a fight at the Golden Lion, The Strand.

Witnesses and anyone with any information or footage is asked to contact Sussex Police online or call 101 quoting serial 1510 of 23/02.

Police forces across the South East will be working together to intensify their operations to tackle rural crime this week.

Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire and Isle of Wight, Kent, and Thames Valley police forces have set up the South East Partnership Against Rural Crime (SEPARC) to ensure co-operation to make the region a hostile environment for countryside offenders.

Officers carried out increased patrols through December last year as part of Operation Limit, a national campaign to crackdown on intoxicated drivers over the festive period.

In keeping with previous campaigns, some of those convicted of drink and drug driving are being named to raise awareness of the campaign and to highlight the examples as a deterrent to others who commit or think about committing similar offences.

 

Man remanded in custody after Worthing robbery

A man charged with robbery and knife offences in Worthing has been remanded in custody. Police were alerted to an alarm at a petrol station in Findon Road, Worthing, at about 5am on February 8.

A worker reported a robbery at the premises and the suspect had left the scene.
